Teacher Apprenticeship Program
Are you ready to grow in your profession and shape the future?
The partnership between Leon County Schools and Tallahassee State College (TSC) provides an incredible opportunity for paraprofessionals to earn their Bachelor’s Degree in Exceptional Studnet Education (ESE) – for free! Participants gain hands-on classroom experience, work alongside a mentor ESE teacher, and become a certified ESE teacher at no cost to them.
What is the apprenticeship program?
This two-year program allows paraprofessionals to:
- Earn a Bachelor’s Degree in ESE for FREE!
- Receive on-the-job training from a mentor ESE Teacher
- Continue earning a paycheck while completing coursework online with TSC.
What are the requirements to participate?
- Must be employed as a paraprofessional with Leon County Schools for the duration of the two-year program
- Must have an A.A. degree with a 2.5 GPA
- Must be paired with an ESE Teacher at your school site for the duration of the two-year program
- Must spending a majority of your day inside an ESE classroom implementing a co-teaching model with your mentor teacher.

Are you interested in participating in the Teacher Apprenticeship Program but do not currently have your A.A. degree and/or a 2.5 GPA? Contact Dr. Rizza, Assoicate Vice President in the Office of Academic Affairs at TSC, and ask for pathways to earn your A.A. or bring up your GPA to meet requirements.
